The owner of the idea of establishing the Egyptian League was the journalist Mahmoud Badr El-Din, who thought of creating it to become like the English League. Some consider that the establishment of the league was more a political reason than a sporting one, as well as the creation of a new interest other than the interest in losing in the 1948 war, which would have caused the collapse of the king’s rule. Farouk agreed with Egypt, so the idea was approved by the Egyptian Football Association.
